Event Description

Eric Jones was born and raised in Hammond, Indiana, the oldest of three children in a single parent home. At the age of nine, Eric saw LL Cool J perform on Krush Groove, and he was smitten. At age 14 a local hustler saw the promise and dedication in him and paid for studio time, and he made his first recording. Soon, everyone in the neighborhood heard about the kid on Eaton Street with the dope flow, and, he drew large crowds wherever he performed. After considering a few stage names, he ran with Ric Jilla.

Today, Ric Jilla is one of the best-known rap artist and performers from Indiana.

He has released countless albums, mixtapes, and projects. Ric Jilla has affectionately been dubbed "The Pride of Indiana," by his fans, peers, and the streets. Since then, this designation and distinction has appeared on all his CD covers, in news and magazine articles, and on merchandise sold.  In 2005, he signed a record deal with The Legion Records, who had major distribution with Warner Brothers. The single "On the What" was released and it was the #1 requested video on BET "Uncut" until the program went off the air. "On the What" was also featured on the soundtrack for the movie American Son, starring Nick Cannon.

He has played the opening act for Snoop Dogg at Chicago's House of Blues, performed at concerts featuring Rick Ross, Lil Boosie, Yo Gotti, and 2 Chainz to name a few.  Ric Jilla has also performed at DUB Magazine's Annual Car Show and the Indy 500 Tailgate Concert.  In addition, he has been featured in magazines such as VIBE, XXL, and Source and on Wikipedia's list of Famous People from Indiana.  His videos have appeared on BET, MTV and VH1.  Ric Jilla is a tried and true, highly decorated, well respected, Midwest rap legend. His latest effort possesses the same rap lyrical street flow that captivates listeners from day one. You can also hear the growth in his music and live instrumentation which proves that he is not just some run of the mill wanna be trap star rap star. Ric Jilla is a polished emcee with something fresh to add to the rap game. These are but a few of Ric Jilla's accomplishments as he prepares to embark on his next journey in the music business – producer/director.
